Privacy Statement

Privacy is a fundamental right. In this information society, privacy is under pressure. The Dutch -Van Dale- Dictionary describes privacy as personal freedom, being able to stay unhindered, in one’s own circle. buro boumeester values your privacy. We believe that having the opportunity to isolate and avoid disruptive influences from the outside world is indispensable.

Michel Foucault – the French philosopher- pointed to the “panoptic effect”. The situation where people adjust their behaviour to an implicit social norm. Foucault used the panopticon as a way to illustrate the proclivity of disciplinary societies subjugate its citizens.

buro boumeester reads Privacy as “the right to be imperfect”. It says it all really… the freedom to lead your life without the outside world knowing everything about it, infringing on it, or exercising a corrective influence on it.
